Tobin Fraley - Looff Carousel Ram

Looff Ram

This is a Introductory Edition Tobin Fraley, produced in 1986.  This piece came with a slightly curved music-box base, with a porcelain rounding board on brass poles. The effect was to create a complete circle, if you had enough of them - so making it look like a full carousel platform. It was also offered with a small brass rectangular base.  The piece is about 13" to the top of the canopy, and the ram moves up and down as the music box plays. This base configuration was limited to a run of 9,500, the brass base to 15,000.

The average price of this piece when new was $50-$100 (depending on which base it was on).
